Link is one of my favorite characters so I’m glad I got the chance to read something that was just about him. This was in the point of view of Link, but told in Ethan’s voice and I liked that. We got a look at how something happened to Link the night of Lena’s seventeenth moon, which will definitely change things for him. John bit him that night, which Link will now turn into an Incubus himself. Ethan has Link go to Macon so that he can teach him about the new powers that he has and how to manage them. Both Link and Ethan don’t like his mother and we get to see why they don’t. She isn’t a nice woman. She is a very controlling and angry person. Link and Ridley get closer. Ridley isn’t the greatest person, but I feel like Link is good for her. With that I know she doesn’t have her powers anymore, which would make her worse and better if she had them back. Maybe she will and I hope she does for her sake. I really enjoyed being able to be in Link’s point of view. This was a nice short story bridging the books but I really feel that it was so short it could have been either added to the story or sold with one of the books rather then as a separate e-book (how I purchase most of my books). That being said, it was fun to see what had happened to Link and how his friends handled it...plus it is relevant to Beautiful Redemption, which references events in this short story, although thus far as I'm reading that book it isn't so important that you would miss this if you didn't read it.
Link is a good side character. He is Ethan's best friend, and he is also the comedic relief in the Beautiful Creature's books. I love how he doesn't care what people think about him, he will yell, dance, wear terrible clothes, and just be out right crazy and could care less when people laugh at him. It was nice to see another side of him, the side of fear and uncertainty. He turned into an Incubus and had to learn about himself from Macon. Was a nice quick easy read.
