I can see why people were frustrated with the repetitious nature of this book - by the last time she went I into Blind Michael's lands, I was getting ready to scream, too. I mean - how many times can you make it out by the skin of your teeth/sheer luck and not learn to go in with a plan?! But then I realized the futility and repetition of the quest were kind of the point. She had to learn to trust herself and learn something about herself along the way. I like that this character is growing. Everything about this book was just cool and fun to read. A creature that looks like a cat, has eyes, purrs in it's own way, is loyal to it's owner but looks like a rose bush? Check! A children's rhyme that sounds like it's been around for centuries because the writer is just that cool. Check. An @ss kicking, look face in the danger, brave hero girl who will do what she feels is right no matter what? Check. Just awesome - you should read it!
