About book Theory Of Opposites, The: A Novel (2013)
I wanted to read this because I knew AWS had self published it and that alone intrigued me. Also, I like supporting her however I can because she's an incredibly generous writer to her readers and to other writers. Parts of this book made me roll my eyes and I caught some editing misses as well. But this book made me think about the concept of fate and inevitability versus the seizing your life and making your own path. How much of what happens to us is because of our own inertia and how much is because we went out and fought for what we wanted. I wasn't really impressed with the first book I read by this author, but my faith was restored with this book. The main character is indecisive, overly dependent on others, and terrified of confrontation- even when warranted. When she is challenged to test the "theory of opposites" as posed by her best friend, she is slowly pushed into doing the exact opposite of what her gut tells her to do. And she enjoys it- grows from it (although it takes a lot of pushing and prodding by other characters). I thought the premise of this "theory" was interesting, and the book got me to wondering what my life would be like if I followed the same path.

This turned out to be a really good book. I don't know what I expected but was pleasantly surprised!

I liked this but it felt much longer than it needed to be. I do love that she self-published!
