About book The One That I Want (2010)

Once I got past the rather disturbing part that Tilly was so excited about yet another prom to attend, I was able to get involved in this book pretty quickly and I liked it a lot. It was a good book about taking a good look at your life to figure out what you wanted.I completely understood that Tyler wasn't entirely happy in his life. He had given Tilly all kinds of happiness, but never got the chance to see what happiness was to him. As someone who is happy in life, but always wondering what else is out there, I completely related to Tyler and did not find his leaving to come out of left field at all, the way Tilly did. It was a good break for them and it caused her to grow up and figure out what she wanted in life. I was rooting for Tyler way more than I was rooting for Tilly. My biggest issue with the book was just how everything was falling apart at once. I guess 'when it rains, it pours', but it just seemed like life for every character in the book was faltering and I didn't believe that there could be *that* much bad luck going around. I was also completely bored by Tilly's planning of the musical and the prom and quite glad that those became just background things and got skipped over as I don't think I could have handled it. I know that there are adult teachers and school representatives who help plan these events, but Tilly was acting as though this was *her* prom and musical again. She continued to re-live the past every single year by attending prom with Tyler instead of recognizing that she was an adult and the things she was doing just weren't normal. I'll give this a 3.5, but I can't. The troubles that Tilly goes through, the way that the writer describes her. She sounds so vulnerable and some parts she gets a little annoying. I, some how understand the frustration of loosening a mother qns not havien anyy else to take care of you. At the same time she clinches to the past the ones existed but now is turning upside down. There were lots of parts in the book that I felt that it was dragging and missing somethingThe end was not the best, I think that it should of being a little different.

Do You like book The One That I Want (2010)?

Brash, unimaginative. The Department of Lost and Found is by far her best piece.
