About book The Song Remains The Same (2012)

This book's premise is very thought-provoking- a woman, Nell, struggles with amnesia after surviving a plane crash. I didn't enjoy much of the story thanks to the unlikable characters. One touch I liked - when Nell's memories began to re-surface, it was her repressed memories that she recalled first. I also appreciated the story's recurring question: Can a person really change? Though much of the story irritated me, I liked the resolution and what it provided for Nell. A woman wakes up and she's in a hospital bed. She doesn't know what happened or who the people surrounding her are. She soon learns her identity and that she has survived a plane crash and her mother and her husband are with her. She is suffering from amnesia. In order to remember her past, she must dig deep, and in unexpected places, to find out the secrets her family and friends are keeping from her. Who can you trust when you don't remember anyone or anything?A remarkable tale of family secrets with just enough of the secret revealed along the way to keep you wanting more. As a reader you grow with Nell, you learn with Nell as she's unraveling her past and discovering that everything is not as it seems. The writing is superb with beautiful passages wound throughout the realistic dialog between characters. It left me contemplating--what if? What if my memories were suddenly hidden from me? Would I want to start over, not delve into the past to find out who I was? Would I be surprised at how people describe my personality? Any book that gets me thinking seriously about my own life deserves 5 stars. Well done.

The ending was a little incomplete to me. I wanted more closure to several parts and relationships.
