About book Tempting The Bride (2012)

Ooooo, I loved this book! I really didn't enjoy the second book in this series, but the hero of this one, Hastings, had my heart from the beginning and I felt so much for him that I was tearing up several times throughout the book and it takes A LOT for a book to make me cry. Part of it was just that we often read unrequited love stories from the female POV, but somehow this being from the male POV made such a difference. During female POV unrequited love stories, I always feel sad and uncomfortable for the girl, who is often a Mary Sue type that you don't understand why the hero would fall in love w/ anyway. Whereas Hastings is an alpha male with a super sweet soft underbelly. I totally melted during the scenes with his daughter, and whenever we'd see the vulnerability of his longings for Helena. I just *felt* SO much while reading the book. Sherry Thomas does Historical Romance in a way that feels different from others in the genre. It makes her books stand out. Well DONE.This was perfectly, beautifully told from the male POV. The woman's was okay, but WOW she nailed the guy here. Two kids snip and snipe and poison each other for years...until Helena loses her memory, and David discovers he has a second chance to treat her the way he really feels about her. I picked this up as a library book, but I'm tempted to buy a copy now. Just a humbling book.
