I found several things to chuckle over in this read. First was the weapons-grade beauty of the lead female. She was a virtual EMP of the ballroom and any place else she wasn't wearing her netted hat. If this was intended to be funny it succeeded. Second was the slap-stick ending - so many entrances and exits one could hardly keep up with the flurry. Less amusing was the rapidity of resolution of problems between the lead characters. Since her third [!] husband showed the same tendencies as her first, all that ends well may not stay that way. Still, I enjoyed it. I made it past the references to english inland 'turtles' (er, no) and 'sidewalk' (referenced as 'pavement' a page later) to mostly enjoy this historical romance novel. It's a bit daft, but a lot that is entertaining is. I particularly enjoyed the characters, both main and secondary, who kept me interested in their complicated love lives.However, I must warn readers that matters resolve themselves completely in a matter of pages and somewhat randomly at the end of the book, like the deadline hit and the drunken version written at 3am had to be good enough. Fortunately, I enjoyed the rest enough to forgive the less than satisfactory ending and I will be going on to read other Sherry Thomas novels, starting with those in this series.
