Age recommendation: 5+This is a good option for a first novel for children, and is especially something that young girls would love. The format is something between a picture book and a full text jFic novel, but slightly closer to the picture book (as opposed to Wimpy Kid, which is the opposite). The odd friendship between Bink and Gollie leads to some funny stories, and even if a child doesn't like one of them, they are short, and there are several more in the book to keep them interested. Winner of the 2011 Theodor Seuss Geisel Award, Bink & Gollie are to adorable children with a very active imagination. They hang out in a tree house, roller skate every pace they go, and you can often time find them either eating peanut butter (Bink) or pancakes (Gollie). To outsiders, the girls look like exact opposites. Bink is more wild and often rushes into adventures without thinking of the consequences. Bink's hair always seems disheveled and her clothes are often a mess. Gollie is taller and more reserved but is bink's partner through all of their adventures.This book contains three adventures that the girls take. In all three stores, the girls often put themselves in bad situations and have to work together to find a way out of it the situations they put themselves. In this book, the illustrations actually tell the story with the words adding commentary. This book is a fun read which most kids will enjoy.
