About book Louise, The Adventures Of A Chicken (2008)
Louise is a chicken who longs for adventure. So she goes out seeking it. First on the high seas where she meets a band band of pirates, then on the high wire where she has a close encounter with a hungry lion. And then in a distant country where she is kidnapped by a dark stranger. In the end, Louise returns home to her sister hens and shares her story with them.This one is really fun and the illustrates are great. Manny plusses here, heavily on the illustration (Harry Bliss) side. Louise (the chicken) craves excitement and adventure, finds it in travels, the cirtcvus, and on a pirate ship. In each case she returns safely home, but then eventually feels the needs to strike out again. In the final chapter she retells her adventures to the other hens, giving them vicarious adventures of their own.No denying the excellence of image and text from these to masters of their crafts.
