About book The Mind Games (2012)

Uh. What just happened. The story went all mystical magical in a yoga type way. I felt like the story just went in an outrageous direction that was completely not in line with what was happening in the other stories. I just figured that Cameron was just a bit more powerful than others. I wasn't expecting that. Cameron's way of dealing with certain characters in this novel was far more annoying than usual. I will go ahead and say that Cameron has some messed up parents. Poor kid. The trilogy itself is not bad. The story is fast paced, action-y, and has a lot angst. At times, the story just felt that it could have been fleshed out a bit more. I will say that I loved how no one was truly a typical "bad guy." It was more being "bad" depending on your point of view.PS. The grammar again. ---------------------------For more detailed reviews, please check out our blog at: keenreadings.blogspot.com I've read all three books in the series, plus the novella. I really liked the first book. It was a fun read and easy to get involved in. To be honest, I got quickly tired of shocking betrayals and surprise family members showing up exactly when needed. It seemed like if the author got stumped over which way to take the book next, she'd throw in another parent to save the day and show Cam the "right" way. Also, it felt like she changed direction and forgot to combine her first book with this one. Lots of plot holes. Why, exactly, did Cam and Maddox get attacked by John at her grandmother's house, if Maddox worked for John anyway???? Why, if Maddox truly loved Nora and was protecting her all along, did he go kissing Cameron??? Why, if Father Byron was working for John and manipulated the rescue of Cameron on the boat, was John so surprised (during Cameron's interrogation session) that her mother was still alive??? Does anyone else see the problems? And the novella.....why should we have to purchase a novella to find out the fate of a major character. This novella also finally put an end to the war, which seemed anticlimactic after John was dead. I truly believe the novella should have been part of the main story, without Nora's POV. I kept waiting for Cameron to truly develop her powers and start kicking butt and protecting the people she cared about. But in the ending of this book, it's yet again, another surprise family member steps in to help out and Cameron does absolutely nothing to aid in her own rescue. Isn't she supposed to be the heroine of the story?

Do You like book The Mind Games (2012)?

Fast, fun read. You won't learn anything from this book, but it's totally enjoyable.
