Had potential but fell quite short....I love suspense, I love not knowing what was going on but this was confusing. There were many times I did not know who was 'talking', and times where I had no idea what characters were referring to. I am all for being 'drip fed' information but I felt unattached from the book as I could not completely follow what was going on.I felt like I had missed book one (there is not one!).I absolutely loved 'The Lonely' also by Tara Brown and I am always recommending it to people. Therefore I was very excited to read this. It started off ok, I was waiting for it to get better then 3/4 of the way through I could have stopped reading, and then towards the end I skimmed and could not have cared what happened in the end.I only continued due to who the Author was.I wanted it to blow every other book out of the water but it just did not for me.I love this genre so I was disappointed. Clever. Witty. Suspenseful. Captivating. Sexy as hell!Evie Evans is a kick-ass heroine. She is smart mouthed and says it like it is. She's a badass who will do whatever it takes to protect her kids, Mitch & Jules. She has the skills, although they have not been needed or used for ten years since she retired to be a full-time mother and wife. Her world crumbles around her when she finds her life has been a lie.Cooper aka Coop is from the CI, sent to protect Evie. He's younger and gorgeous. Their banter is crazy fun. His team rounds out with, Luce & James. Strong, fun characters.Gustavo Servario is the "bad guy." OMG, he is all alpha male, hot, sexy, demanding and can be sweet. He can be cruel.Evie's mom is a strong force to be reckoned with.I highlighted many great lines. I could not put this story down, I wanted to know what was going to happen next. The suspense was great and the story is well written. The sex scenes are crazy good.Love the author's style of writing.I can't wait to read the next installment in this series.Favorite lines:"Champagne & tequila were making me a giant ho." Evie"You called me a cougar," I muttered. "Grudge holder," he mumbled, mocking me. Coop"James had me doubting my self esteem & Coop had me doubting my wiles. Servario on the other hand, was making me feel pretty & sexy." EvieHis words turned to a whisper, "You make me want to be worthy of you. That's a dangerous effect to have, on a manlike me." ServarioIf you enjoy a romantic suspense sexy thriller, this is one you want to read!!!This was my first Tara Brown book. It won't be my last. Next up, The End of Games!Great price for these books, so enjoyed these characters.
