Loved it. Read it in one sitting and straightway downloaded #2 and started reading. Living in New Zealand and having visited Aussie heaps I found the descriptions of the land and scenery spot on. The desolation, the endless red dirt that gets everywhere and sticks like glue. Laughed at the language explanations, Aus and Kiwi speak is very similar so found Travis's confusion at some of the words funny. The story itself was lovely, not too much angst and very true to life I thought. A definite 4.5 star read rounded to 5 for GR purposes. Yep, N.R.'s done it again. Another great book. Love her characters and really enjoyed the scenery. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that, having lived outback for many years, I found the language and some elements were just a little off true. Not a big deal as the majority of readers would never pick up on it, but since the book made me long for home (with talk of the red dust and stars), I found it just a little jarring. Won't keep me from buying the rest of the books in the series though.
