About book Learning To Feel (2012)

For a free book, this was solid and absolutely fabulous. I was worried it would read too much like a short story, but there was substance to this and I never the story felt rushed or too slow. The pace was really good for me. Nathan moves and gets a new job to try to find what has been missing in his life, and it just happens to be happiness in the form of Trent, the temporary live in painter. I liked how they weren't perfect and that they had struggles to work through in order to be happy alone and together. It wasn't too angsty, but wasn't a fluff story either. Great balance and I enjoyed it a lot. I was stumbling along when I first started reading this book. I wasn't getting into it, despite the high ratings and I was a little put off by the sheer amount of sex. But suddenly, without realizing it, I got sucked in, and I ended up really liking the story. What happens when you take a man who's never felt attraction towards anyone in his 28 years, and add an artist who hasn't loved anyone in 8 and is scared to open his heart? A very sweet, and smile worthy story about opening your heart and allowing yourself to feel. Sprinkle in some wonderfully supportive secondary characters, a sweet dog, a beautiful epilogue, and top it off with the fact that this is a free read and you'll have a great afternoon read.3.5 stars
