About book Reclamada (2012)

This book was much like the first book in that it was kind of a dull read but it kept just enough interest to make me want to read the ending. This book had the additional downfall in that the I didn't like the heroine as much as the first book. She was kind of ignorant and "weak" for lack of a better word. She wasn't the kick butt main female like the other book. She had one particular "derp" moment that stuck with me through the whole book: She states that she will do anything Angus asks as long as her mother is safe and is then shocked and amazed that he was "smart enough" to see her "weakness" by using her mother's safety to get her to comply to things... Well DUH! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see through your weaknesses... As I stated before, this book kept up just enough interest to make me want to see the ending, but it was difficult to get there at most parts. There were some parts that were mildly interesting that made reading a little more exciting, but that wasn't often. The thought of how Gwendolyn will melt the Lion's cold heart and how two people can go from hating each other to loving each other (which is often over played but is one of my favorite romantic scenarios) kept me going. But, as in the other book, this sounded interesting and failed to totally impress. The ending also, was slightly disappointing (cute, but overall disappointing). Things also got really repetitive toward the end which really bothered me. Yes, we know Gwen is feeling conflicted with her choices. Yes, we know Angus doesn't know whether to trust Gwen or not... For goodness sake, we know!! It doesn't need to be repeated five times over! Make your point, and move on. There were some good parts, however. Angus and Gwendolyn are a very cute couple and they do have a cute story based on building trust. They relate back to the first book very nicely as well and sets up for the third book well enough. Overall, the book was cute but failed to totally impress. It gets a 2.5/5 stars from me because of this and the lacking female character (that one moment just stuck with me and really kept me from seeing her as a strong female character like I believe she was supposed to be). There was just enough interest to get through the book through all the bad parts, but just barely. I'd suggest giving this book a try, but if you like a unique plot that keeps you wondering what will happen and strong-willed female characters, you may be slightly disappointed in this book. I LOVED this book. I'm on a highlander binge, and have read so many highland stories from so many authors that my mind gets jumbled with all the clan names. This book was a particular treat. It is hard to think of forgiving Angus the Lion for his part on Duncan's capture in book one. But I urge readers to keep an open mind. While this book is part of a trilogy, it would work fine as a stand alone. I adore Gwen, one of the best heroines I've come across in a while. I was completely smitten with the couple. The author wrote scenes that demonstrate what it is really like to be in love during the beginning of a marriage. There is a scene where the couple are laying against opposite sides of the bed, and Angus massages Gwen's feet as they have pillow talk after one of their steamy love scenes. There were quite a few heartwarming scenes of a couple truly in love. I LOVED IT. I actually cried twice. Highly recommended and much more than I expected!!!

Do You like book Reclamada (2012)?

I was excited to read this book about Angus because of what happened in the first book. I loved it. I was super intrigued and hoked from the first page on. Angus was exactly the kinda of tortured hero you love to read about. Gwen was pretty great also she was tough and good grief for her to stand up to a man who just stormed your castle and claimed it as his own was awesome! It had some great filling from where the story left off in the first book. I can not wait to read Lachlan's book!

I haven't read any romance novels in a while, but this one sounded interesting. I enjoyed the story line and the passion between the main characters, Angus and Gwendolen. Good plot twist with her brother. Even though they were enemies at the start you could still feel a connection between them and knew they were meant to be together. Looking forward to the next book, Seduced by the Highlander about Angus's cousin Lachlan.
