I've put off reading this because, frankly, I hate the cover. I know it's won awards, but I there's just something about it...I picked this book up and read it straight through in one day. It was a lovely story, replete with Shakespeare, kilts, a brogue, a red-haired hero who is (*gasp*) a virgin, music, and just the right amount of allusion to the fairy tale from which it takes inspiration.I have just one question for the inestimable Ms. James, though. What happens to the pigs? Interestingly I thought I had not read anything by this author when I read a novella of hers. I enjoyed it so much I went to look for the companion full novel...and realized three pages in I had indeed already read it and found it just okay.This is my second complete novel by the author and I find it just okay. Generally I do not enjoy novellas, they always feel incomplete, but this author wrote a terrific novella, but her full length novels fell lacking. HmmmmIt was interesting to have both the characters lack any sexual experience...since usually dudes are massive worldly studs who have to claim those blossoming virgins. So that was something different. There was some very funny moments. But mostly it was a pretty average historical romance.

I absolutely loved this book! I LOLed so many times. Maybe the best Eloisa James book of all.
