I’m new to this series and wasn’t quite aware that Hunger Untamed was the fifth book, and even if I did, I doubt I would have been persuaded to not get it. I was intrigued by the short summary at the back and I imagined being pulled into a story that tugged at my emotions. This book didn’t really live up to that point of amazing-ness, but it still had this world that I just can’t be helped but pulled into.I guess I’m lucky in reading this book first because I get to read about Kougar, who I believe is the oldest among the Ferals, because I instantly get a background of the past five thousand years and how the Ferals became who they are now. Maybe in previous books it was already explained, but I’m not entirely sure of that.What I disliked most in this book were the focus on characters other than Ariana and Kougar. The focus shifted on Wulfe and Hawke, and even once on Olivia. I don’t really have anything against these characters, but they weren’t even part of the plot, most especially Wulfe. I could understand the focus on Olivia because that was sort of a necessary moment, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t completely annoyed at not being able to read more of Ariana and Kougar. In the end, I guess they were all necessary additions for fans of the previous books and also to set the stage for the sequels.I don’t quite understand if the Mage are friends or foes of the Ferals. I mean, hello, isn’t Skye a Mage? And after they went through all the trouble of not killing them, they still do at the end…or at least I think they did. I still don’t know what a Radiant is, though I do have a vague idea of what s/he is able to do.Jag is so funny it’s hilarious. He says all these things that seem scripted, but from him it always comes out like it’s an outcry of rage or shock on epic proportions. I’d like to read his story and see if he retains that kind of attitude.I also liked Pink, and hope we get to see her and the blind guy, Xavier, more. I liked the one scene they had in this book, and I think it would be a looking-glass into the Ferals' normal and simple daily life. Sort of like a slice of life story.Overall, I liked this story but it wasn’t realistic. Besides the fact that there are paranormal creatures present, I don’t think anyone could NOT love another person after a millennium of being alone, especially when you think your mate has already died. People tend to move on and adapt to their situation while still being as happy as possible. Also, I don’t think I could have stayed away from that person I loved after a millennium of not being together because of a poison that could no longer hurt him. It’s just all so surreal that you still haven’t found another after one thousand years. Yeah, it is sweet if we look at it from far away, but imagine grieving for someone for 50 years or avoiding the person you love because of whatever reason for the same length of time. Now, make it a thousand years. Tausend Jahre ist es nun her, seitdem Kougar seine Gefährtin verlor.Hundert seitdem er weiß, dass sie nicht tot ist.I n h a l t : Tighe und Hawke sitzen in der Geistfalle fest und keiner kann sie befreien. Keiner, der unter den Lebenden wandelt, kann diese Falle bezwingen und seine Freund befreien, außer Ariana. Die bis vor hundert Jahren tot geglaubte, ehemalige Gefährtin des Puma-Gestaltwandlers ist die Königin der Ilona, nur sie vermag in ihrer Nebelgestalt die Geistfalle zu betreten, und unbeschadet mit Tighe und Hawke dieser wieder zu entfliehen. Aber kann Kougar sich seinen enttäuschten Gefühlen, dem seitdem geschürten Hass alleine gelassen worden zu seinem Stolz entfliehen und Sie um Hilfe bitten? Er macht sich auf die Suche nach ihr und wird fündig. Er schwört sich, ihrem Bann niemals mehr zu erliegen und Sie nach getaner Arbeit völlig aus seinen Gedanken zu löschen. Aber wird er damit Erfolgt haben? Kann er seine wieder aufkeimende Gefühle im Zaum halten? F a z i t :Diesmal bin ich etwas geschockt im Sinne von enttäuscht. Dieses Buch ist nicht unbedingt ein typisches Pamela Palmer Buch so wie wir es aus den bisherigen Teilen der Krieger des Lichts kennen. Erstmal hat mich einen "Nebengeschichte" in einem Buch mehr interessiert als die Eigentliche und es macht mich traurig, das diese nicht beendet wurde. Zumindest nicht in meinem Sinne ;-) Mir persönlich hätte diese Buch mehr Freude bereitet wenn die Geschichte von Wulfe und Natalie gehandelt hätte, anstatt von Kougar und Ariana. Auch die knisternde Erotik in den Bücher von Frau Palmer fehlt hier bis es fast schon zu Ende ist. Nicht desto trotz hat es aber seine 3 Punkte verdient, da es in der Serie darum geht alle Gestaltwandler der Lichtkrieger kennen zu lernen. Da Band 6 bereits im Februar erscheint und ein kurzer Blick in den Inhalt verrät das es hier dann um Hawke gehen wird bin ich gespannt wie wir ihn kennenlernen und hoffe, das es in Band 7 endlich um Wulfe gehen wird!
