Amazingly enough, I liked it a lot until the sex scenes. Because I gotta be honest and say I didn't much appreciate them. They were pretty kinky and weird and so not part of my reading style. Also kind of hard to imagine. But I did like the rest. The author made me care for someone who only uttered a single word in the entire novel and I imagine it wasn't an easy feet. Still curious about Ox's past tho. I had some idea and no idea what to expect from this book since reading the first book, Seedy Business. This is the story of Ox. But it's not from Ox's POV it's mostly from Runt's. Runt has a contract to farm the land to make it profitable for Hardcell. In turn, after a time, the land and the farm would be his. He's been struggling to make it work with little supplies and no help. Then a huge crate washes up on shore, presumably from Hardcell with need supplies. And something else, Ox. Ox is a giant of a man and mute. I really wanted to know if he was mute or if he just decided not to talk. Anyway, after Runt gets over his fear of Ox and stops trying to test him to see if he knows what he's doing, he relaxes somewhat.It was a strange relationship to start being that Ox couldn't/wouldn't talk but they managed to communicate without that being much of a problem. There is a slow shift in Runt toward Ox as he realizes what Ox is starting to mean to him.This is my second read from Damon Suede and I really enjoy the intricacies of the space world he built and the growing relationship between Ox and Runt. I'm really hoping there is more of Ox and Runt in this series.
