In this sequel to '600 Hours of Edward', we find the title character with Asperger's Syndrome 3 years older and having to adjust to a new set of circumstances. Now 42 yrs old, he has developed diabetes and must change his eating and exercise habits, his father has died, his mother spends half her time far away in Texas, he has losst his job, and his friend Donna and her son Kyle from across the street have moved away. So many changes to his OCD need for routine make him feel 'adrift'. He gets a call from Donna telling him how 12-yr-old Kyle has been suspended from school and is exhibiting serious behavioral problems. Would Edward come and visit and see if the relationship he has with Kyle will give some insight into the issues? Edward agrees, and embarks on a long road trip from his home in Montana to Idaho. The story is once again told from Edward's point of view, and his Asperger's-skewed interpretation of events and motives is endearing and at time humorous. I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one, and can't wait for (hopefully) a 3rd 'Edward' book. 4.5 stars. This review refers to both “600 hours of Edward” and “Edward adrift”. I read them one after the other so I can’t say if one is better than the other. They are both superb.Hundreds of reviews are already posted so all I have to say is – Edward, you rock, man! You are not stupid, you are smart and you are very, very funny. Oh, and you are f@cking loaded, man, so go do, the world is your oyster!
Do You like book Edward Adrift (2013)?
Not as good as the first, a bit disjointed. But overall nice to be back with Edward!
