Deadly Heat is the second book in Cynthia Eden's romantic suspense series. It's fast paced, sexy and full of action from start to finish. Lora is a dedicated firefighter that has seen her share of loss, and works to make sure no one else dies if she can help it. When she calls in help to deal with a serial arsonist, she doesn't expect Kenton Lake, a smart, aggressive and sexy agent from a special division. Two strong people who've put emotional walls up to protect themselves from more loss and heartbreak, face off against each other only to find an attraction they can't fight. The arsonist is making things personal now, and no one seems to be able to figure out the connections. I loved Deadly Heat for it's suspense, the rich characters and the passion between the hero and heroine. This was a fabulous read! Female firefighter Lora Spade, teamed with Special Agent Kenton Lake, races to find a serial arsonist preying on citizens of Lora's home town. Fast paced and incredibly well researched, DEADLY HEAT is an on-the-edge-of-your-seat suspense story with plenty of twists and turns in the killer's psyche. The only thing hotter than the fires Lora fights is the attraction that develops between Lora and Special Agent Lake as the team works to discover the pyro's identity before he claims his next victim. Lora definitely feels the heat thrown off by Kenton, but the earlier loss of her friend, lover, and fellow firefighter to the arsonist, makes her leery of becoming involved. It will take a special man to help her risk being 'burned' by love again. The couple endures a trial by fire, one that leaves both their lives in the balance and at the mercy of a killer. Just how good was this? Off to find the next Cynthia Eden book!
Do You like book Echo Der Vergangenheit (2012)?
I don't understand the hype for this series at all. I was completely unimpressed by the first one and because I'm an obsessive glutton for punishment, I pushed on to try to complete the series. There is more romance in this book versus the first, but nothing special. The sex scenes were completely dry, and unfortunately the author didn't accomplish her purpose as a romance writer at all: I felt totally uninspired by the love story between the hero and heroine, didn't feel them at all. The suspense was interesting enough but carries on a bit long. I really think the author should cut her losses and stick to straight suspense if that's what she wants to write. Unfortunately I have the third in audio and will probably listen, but that'll likely be it. A shame because I really did like a Christmas story of hers a few years ago.

My first Cynthia Eden, but not my last! Enjoyed her alpha male/strong heroine combo in Kenton and Lora. The love scenes were well done. Enjoyed the fact that both had doubts and fears, but neither were stupid about them in the relationship area...just enough angst, but not over the top. Had the bad guy sighted pretty well 1/2 way through, but it didn't diminish the story for me. Will read her other "Deadly" books soon!
