About book Draakkien Ruhtinas (2010)

1. These books were more based in the reality of the Vargas family problems rather than the problems of the fantastical world. The family even went to counseling in the book. They fought magical creatures as a metaphor for learning how to get along as a new family. They became a team and learned communication and love.2. I was about to go insane that the poor Nixies didn't have fresh water yet. It took them forever to get where they needed to be: three whole books.3. Both Spiderwick series had the most unexpected hero. Jared was a troubled kid who fought because of his divorced parents and Nick was an overweight kid, sad because of his mother's death. It's good to have those types of characters in books to empower children to feel like they can be the hero of their own life.4. It doesn't say in so many words but before everyone goes to the hospital in the end I'm guessing they killed a bunch of giants? 5. It's kind of weird that they introduced a fantastical creature, the spriggan, that wasn't in the Arthur's Field Guide. 6. They need to make a movie from this series, too. It would be fantastical.7. Those dragons were nasty. Another average installment of the post Spiderwick series. Unfortunately these books lack the depth and solid story arch of the originals. In addition, the antagonist was not antagonistic enough. I'd hoped the story would end on a bang, but instead it ended on a beh.Lovers of the Spiderwick Chronicles (children) will likely enjoy these as bedtime stories, but I would absolutely recommend other options. It pains me because I liked the first series do much. I was glad the world was not discarded, because it was so interesting, but these were not up to snuff.
