I missed Holly Black's fairies and was so excited to read this new novel of hers. And it did not disappoint. I loved it all. From moment one I was enchanted. I loved the magical fairytale storytelling in this. I loved the mystery and the dark, strange and dangerous fairies. I loved Hazel and Jack and Ben and Severin. And even though only a brief introduction I kind of adore Marcan.Holly Black's stories are always so different and magical and wonderful. And I am so glad I got to go to the darkest part of the forest and meet her latest characters and step into this world for a short while.Review TK. I absolutely LOVE Holly Black. She can write anything and I'll read it!I was pulled into this story and couldn't wait to find out what would happen. Hazel and Ben, siblings who hunt evil creatures in the forest. I love that Hazel is bold. I love that she kisses boys. I love that she is on a quest to discover who she is and who she loves. What can I say - Hazel and Jack together are awesome. Then there is Jack, Hazel and Ben's best friend. I adore him. He has his own secrets and issues. So fascinating ! Especially his parental situation. :DHolly paints an interesting world of the Fae. Fairfold is a creepy town, and the horned boy locked in the glass coffin definitely will have you wondering. Who is he? Why is he there? Hazel is a kick-ass character - strong, opinionated, courageous. Ben is an awesome big bro, and I love that Holly created a gay character, who doesn't fit into any "mold." This is a unique dark fantasy with mystical creatures, just a bit scary and creepy, but not so much that you won't be able to sleep.Love the cover. Swoony and strong characters, vivid setting, intriguing plot. Definitely recommend for people who love dark YA fantasy novels.Thank you so much to Little Brown for the review ARC.
