I have to give this one just an OK. The story had great potential but it really fell flat compared to some of the others. I really wanted to like the Heroine but she was really what made me give this a two star rating. I could understand her angst at being bested by Latham, a werewolf and being held prisoner, and not having a choice in donating to him regularly. What I didn't understand is what seemed to be her biggest hangup about him, which was all the time that had been taken away from her. She was asleep for 15 years, which would be a really long time if you're 30, or 50 or even 100. Since Iona is 1600 years old, 15 years really equates to a nap. Also, for being 1600 years old she seems very immature and way too trusting of people. Especially given her past and how she came to be known of as the Blood Queen.Jamie on the other hand felt more real to me. But he just couldn't make up for everything that I felt Iona was lacking. I really did want to like this story and it could have been great. I just felt like it fell flat. And this was the story I'd been expecting, the one where the characters fall into insta-lust. Not gonna rehash the storyline, it's already been done.My issue is that in Chapter 1, Jamie is hell-bent on getting revenge on Latham, but by the time we reach the end of chapter three, Jamie already knows she's the only for him? The beginning felt way too rushed in terms of their relationship, but I really liked the way it was written how Jamie asked all about her beginnings and what really happened to her. Of course we know this is gonna have a HEA, so it wasn't all bad, just not as entertaining as the first three in the series.
