About book Blame It On Texas (2000)

I sooo loved reading this book. It was funny, sweet, thrilling... I just can't seem to find the words to say how much I liked it so I'll use something my friend likes to say: it's mind-blowingly awesome :)I have to admit, I didn't expect that this will be such a good book. Usually the first book in a series is great and then the 2nd, 3rd...get worse and worse BUT THIS was definitely one of the rare exceptions. Blame It on Texas is the second in the Hotter in Texas series and I liked it a lot more than the first installment. In fact, I couldn’t wipe the cheesy grin off my face. Same kind of hijinks as the first book. Same bonkity bonk bonk mishaps that get the main couple together; in the first book it was puke, in this book it’s a ridiculous amount of food spilled on our hero. The couple receives the same awkward and unrealistic teasing from their friends. I mean really, they are like a bunch of middle schoolers: Oooh, are you sleeping with her!? Ooooh you like each other. But the romance between Tyler and Zoe sizzles so much I didn’t even roll my eyes once during the Strip Scrabble scene. Zoe Adams is traipsing through life, minding her own business when she sees herself on an Unsolved Mystery Hunters episode. Is she really Caroline Bradford, kidnapped and murdered child of one of Texas’s richest families? And if she is then who was murdered? She makes her way from Alabama to Texas and takes a job as a waitress to support herself while she attempts to uncover the truth. It doesn’t take long before she’s receiving threatening phone calls to get out of town. She meets PI Tyler Lopez and you know her case is as good as solved and the mystery takes a back seat to the romance and the biggest suspense is wondering how long it will take them to have sex. The mystery is tied up suddenly at the end and there are no big surprises as you see them coming a mile away. But I challenge you to care. Their relationship is too damn cute. The couple from the first book, Nikki and Dallas, make brief appearances but out of all the background characters they felt the most listless. Like the story of Tony and LeAnn from the first book, the secondary romance of Ellen and Rick is as interesting, if not more so, as that of Zoe and Tyler.
