I had goosebumps all the way through this book and I simply couldn't put it down. As soon as I thought I had it all figured out, something happens to throw me off completely. I thought the book was well researched and the caracters were built up so beautifully. The book has an incredibly eery quality to it that I havent experienced before. I will definitely add Kate Morton's other two books to my reading list. This book is the first but definitely not the last that I'll read by this author. The tale of the three sisters in their dilapidated castle home and the role their author father played in the death of their mother are part of the intrigue that carries the reader through a rather complex and dark series of revelations. Right up to the end, the author continues to surprise with connections and relationships.
The first half was very slow, but the second half I couldn't put it down.

A bit too gothic, and at least 100 pages too long.
