About book Analfabetka, Která Uměla Počítat (2013)

I believe this was better than "The 100-Year Old Man". There, I said it. It was less grounded in history, less "Look what Allen was up to while important thing X was happening!". Even though it worked in "The 100-Year Old Man", (and don't get me wrong, I loved that one too!) I was happy that his second book did not try to mimic his first. Instead, it was very original. Even though it did share some themes with his previous noves, like telling a life story and of course, the presence of the atomic bombs, but the situations were very creative. One particular scene stood out to me, the one with a certain crate. You'll know what I mean. I had to put the book down to laugh before being able to continue to read, only to start laughing even more while reading the next line.I cannot wait for Jonas Jonasson to write more, to see what he comes up to next. I can't think of anything that's as genuinely funny as this was. This had me laughing out loud in places. I really have to think that those who marked it with 1* are lacking a sense of humour. That having been said, I do worry that the author is a one trick pony. Like The Hundred Year Old Man the book tells the story of a disparate set of characters involved with real historical events. Admittedly different events, but the pattern is the same. However, I did enjoy it
