About book Afterimage (2009)

If ever a book inspired introspection, sadness, and soul-searching, this one did. This is the most I've ever felt emotionally invested in a work of fiction. There's a despair that one feels toward Boyd and Hsin. I honestly wondered if they would have been better off never having met. In Evenfall, it seemed that some of the emotional turmoil was just for the sake of dragging a character through across the coals for no reason. Afterimage revealed the complexities and (very sad) dimensions to characters otherwise seemingly "normal". I would definitely recommend it. Finally I'm done with this! I do love Sin and Boyd's relationship, although this book had a lot of sorrow, I think it made them stronger at the end. I did get pissed at Boyd and Sin throughout the book, just because they both didn't get each other, and no I don't think that only one of them was to blame, they both contributed to the fucked up situation. It's true that Sin is inept in relationships and Boyd should have stated his wants and needs clearly, but at the same time, Sin didn't tell Boyd what was going on, which just complicated the whole situation and it all went straight to hell. I wasn't really surprised by the ending, because I had a sneaking suspicion it would happen after the first book, but I got to say that now I want to know who planned the attack on the Agency, because I presumed it was Emilio, but it doesn't look like that now :?So all in all this instalment was good, I liked it maybe a bit more than the first one because there wasn't a lot of action, and sometimes I just like things easy, when the writers concentrate on the characters inner thoughts and feeling, so thumbs up for the second book of ICoS :)
