In the second stand-alone novel of the series, I was pleased to be hearing more about Alessandro Moretti. Told through the perspective of aspiring actress, Hilary, I really enjoyed getting a glimpse into the past life of the man from the first novel, A Little Too Far. While I loved that book, I think I enjoyed this one a bit more because I found myself relating to Hilary's journey. When Alessandro Moretti shows up unexpectedly after leaving their group home 8 years previously, he rocks Hilary's world. The two of them spend time together rekindling a friendship and finding that the sparks of their past have not yet been fully extinguished. But there is more to the story. A lot has happened since Alessandro left and Hilary doesn't know if she's ready to tell Alessandro the truth, or let him fully back into her life, or her heart. This book hits home when reflecting about fist love, first heartbreak, and letting down the walls you've built to protect yourself from being hurt. While the story may be fiction, the emotions and themes are very real. I really liked Alessandro from A Little Too Far and wanted this book to be more his POV. What we get is the POV of Hilary and honestly, I did not care for her. The chemistry between the two of them, just never felt right. Then throw in her sister, who was a control freak, none of the characters meshed...There is not enough joy in this book and frankly it made me tired just trying to read through all the drama.
Do You like book A Little Too Much (2013)?
you guys....omg...I can honestly say I didn't see that coming.
