Oh my goodness… just when I thought a book by Lisa Desrochers couldn’t get any better, I read A Little Too Hot. It was more than a little too hot, it was scorching! This book is a crazy train of a ride in Northern California that just left me hurting for the characters. It was a lot to take in but so incredibly hard to put down.Samantha West has nothing left. Just when she thinks her life can’t get any crappier… well you know by now that is code for “it’s gonna hit the fan.” She has no family left as they threw her out into the world, maybe it was tough love, maybe it was because they couldn’t handle her crazy ways but she was alone. It seems the only friend she has right now is Jonathan. While trying to help her out and get her a job, his connections to a new job are just what she needs. Sam’s new job is that of an exotic dancer. She is finally making great money and she gets lost in the music when she is dancing. But of course everything comes at a cost when she meets Harrison. Harrison has paid for a private dance, which is not unheard of, but the electricity between the two of them is there. She is left breathless just looking into the eyes of the film making guy right in front of her. When looks and names become deceiving, Sam is left to question her trust in everyone she knows. She has been broken so many times and now she has hit rock bottom. Harrison is not who he seemed to be, in fact, he’s not who he said he was… this is just the beginning of a downward spiral in her life and it just gets crazier and crazier. It’s funny that the guy that betrayed her in a moment was the one my heart spent a lot of time hurting for. It wasn’t because he wanted to leave her; it was because it was his job. Everything was about timing. Sam was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and when it all collapsed around her, the one person you want so desperately to pick her up, doesn’t… GAH!This book grabbed me and sucked me in. It was a suspenseful ride filled with angst and drama and an underlying love. It was fabulous! I am not sure there are enough words to describe how amazing this book is. Lisa Desrochers just grabbed my attention with her characters and story line. My heart ached for the people I never would have expected it to ache for. The one I thought I should be angry about seemed to be the one I was most compassionate about. The one that I should have had more compassion for was the one I tended to be angry with. This book just took a romantic story to an epic level and it was so worth the read. Not only did I not want to put it down, I couldn’t. I stayed up all hours of the night to finish it. I just wanted to know how it was going to end. The suspense, drama and action were all topped off with a sweet and bitter tale of love. There were tender moments to cherish and angsty moments you just wanted to forget. This book was amazing and I highly recommend it for people who need a shot of action to go with the romance. Lisa Desrochers has just out done herself with this steaming action packed book! This will be one of my favorites this year and I will definitely revisit it! To be honest, I'm a little disappointed. I don't know if it was because the synopsis was misleading or it was just me that misread it and thought it was another regular chick meets billionaire playboy thing (I've been reading up on books with those themes) so when I found out the book involved crime scenes and being under lock down, I felt cheated.A Little Too Hot was the title, and yes, there was sexual tension and stuff going around the place, but I dunno, it really didn't come across as being sexy. Reading through it just felt like 'what the fudge is happening? Too much unnecessary drama, just do it and get it over with.'I had to practically drag myself to finish reading this. And ugh, idk I guess I'll just stick two stars on this? Now, I'm definitely snoozing in 3... 2... zZz..
