About book Why I Love Geeks (2011)

It's really 3 and a half stars but I'll round it up to four as it did make me laugh in parts. It's a romantic comedy with a mystery running through it. One of the MC's has no internal filter and some of the things that come out of his mouth are hilarious. There are some sexy parts but I wanted to like it more than I did. I liked the characters but didn't feel totally drawn into the story or their relationship and the mystery part was just too improbable. It's worth reading if you fancy a light, funny read and are prepared to suspend reality. synopsis:chuck doesn't like technology, so when he is about to throw his latest phone in the street because he can't figure out how to answer it, he is grateful to the guy who gets his messages for him. herb is a geek who has never had a relationship with anyone, not even his own family. he's incredibly intelligent, and that scares people away. when he sees a man about to throw his phone away, he shows the guy how to work it, and gets his first kiss as a result. a couple of weeks later, herb's new co-worker at his lab invites him to her family's for dinner. when chuck sees herb again, he can't help but act on the attraction sparking between them. then, a scientist turns up dead, and he happens to work for the same lab that herb and chuck's sister work for. as chuck and his partner work to figure out what is going on, herb and chuck's relationship continues to build.what i liked: the premise. i liked chuck and herb together. i liked that chuck wasn't really embarrassed by any of herb's societal faux-pas; that he liked herb the way that he was.what i didn't like: the invisibility plot and the russsians...it seemed really busy. not to mention the other two relationships that seemed to be developing within the pages. also, herb's stream of consciousness vocalizing got annoying after a time.
