★★☆ rounded up to ★★★This is a book I enjoyed early on in my M/M reading adventure but when I revisited it today, I found it lacking & reduced my rating from ★★★★ to ★★☆ ... my main issues were the unbelievable story line & the clunky writing style ... Duncan & Kyle were deeply in the closet because of fear of reprisals from their fellow cowboys yet there seemed to be a calm acceptance of their relationship by all involved when they were exposed as a couple ... there were also a few unresolved plot lines which irritated me too ... it all just became a bit too fairytale-ish & I found myself disengaging from the book ... add in the dreaded insta-love & you're left with an innocuous little romance without any true depth or satisfaction for the reader. This was a good book, although not the best of T.A. Chase´s that I read.Kyle is following his father and brother on the bull riding circuit. Why he does it is a wonder though, as they are both abusive towards Kyle and treat him like a servant. Kyle has admired bull rider Duncan from afar for a while, but now Duncan has noticed Kyle and the attraction between them is instant and sizzling. The support from Duncan is what Kyle needs to stand up to and break away from his abusive father. I like the relatinship between Duncan and Kyle and even though their relationship is very new they make it work even though there are some issues, such as their age difference and Kyle´s father. I am having a hard time understanding Kyle´s relationship with his mother, which seems to be pretty close and loving, yet she has let the abuse go on without comment.This story had great potential, although I wish I could have followed Kyle and Duncan and their evolving relationship a little more. The story had a long introduction and a too quick resolve.
