About book Weird Things Customers Say In Bookstores (2012)
"Hi, I have a coupon for twenty percent off.""Great! Do you have it handy?""Oh, I didn't print it out. It's in my email.""Um, do you happen to have a phone where you can access your email?""No. You aren't going to honor it? I buy a lot of stuff here.""Well, I actually need the code off of the coupon to give you the discount.""You aren't going to HONOR IT?"So, do me a favor. The next time you're talking to someone in a retail position, think about what you're going to say for at least two seconds. If it even remotely resembles anything in this book or the example I've included, do humanity a favor and walk into traffic. I bet booksellers hear tons of weird/funny/creepy things from their customers. Long time ago, a lady owning a small antiquarian bookshop told me about a customer who, upon noticing Tom Jones by Henry Fielding on the shelf, said "oh, I thought he was a singer, I didn't know he was a writer as well".As for this book, probably my favourite: “CUSTOMER: Do you have this children's book I've heard about? It's supposed to be very good. It's called "Lionel Richie and the Wardrobe.”
