I was extremely excited at the start when i read the blurb, as I rarely find books in historical-romance to my liking. And boy did i like it. From the start of the book, you see the struggle and misfortune of Aurora's life after the untimely death of her parents. Leaving her in the care of her Uncle Cedric, where she went from being treated as a lady to a lowly servant. In fear of her life, Aurora runs from the guards keep with her only friend Nate, a servant who helped in time of need. On the path to Alvar, to attend her best friends wedding, Aurora runs in to trouble. Non other than, Monster of Mornay one of the most feared barons in England. This first chance meeting starts of their Lust/Hate relationship that spirals into devastating circumstances that in the end lead to a unexpected marriage.Oh this story held my attention vividly with Aurora and Brigham humorous antics continuously through the plot. With no doubt at all, this has become one of my favourites in historical-romance. With its highly entertaining development of love between the two in small gestures brings a smile to my face. Kindle Unlimited Free Audiobook narrated by Sue Pitkin. I just can't continue! I'm on Ch. 30 with about 3 hours to go but I just can't do it. The book was free so I thought I'd give a new author and narrator a try. It started off so promising and then just kept getting worse and worse. First... his little pet name "Little Heart" just gets on my nerves. Not really sure why. I just find it stupid. Second, the narrator is simply reading this book with very little emotions. She pauses at ever comma, period and paragraph. I tried to overlook this but when the story turned from good to bad and then worse - I give up! The last few chapters are pretty much nothing more than.... Do I love him/her... yes or no? Some sex followed by do I tell him/her... yes or no? This goes on and on over again. It amazes me how this author could say the same exact thing so many times. The last chapters I read seemed like the same shit with just a few words changed here and there. If you want to read/listen to a book all about "should I" or "should I not" kind of thing then go for it. I prefer a plot with character development, some hot sexy romance and maybe a dash of some mystery of "who done it." But right now, I truly feel like I tortured myself with this narration and story line in the hopes that this was going to get better. The good news is that it won't be hard to find a good book after this one. Unlike when I read an amazing book and then struggle to find the next amazing book.
