About book Verborgene Sehnsucht (2013)

Who thought ice cold could be so hot. I loved this book just as much as the first. The are bits the author has done better then the last. And I love that we get to see deeper into the group. We watch then all grow in this book and that's great. One thing that stopped me for doing 5 stars is the added parts of being in the bad guys heads and seeing what they feel. I'm sort of a person that don't like that in most books. One I don't care how the bad guy feels because it's just bad stuff anyway like wanting to hurt someone and to it makes the story drag in the wrong sort of why. Anyway that's just how I feel but other then that I loved every minute of this book once I got over bad guy bit, and what's not to love about two strong people coming together to love each other the way we all wish we could be loved. If you liked the first book you will love this one. Ms Callahan really got me going with this second installment in the Dragonfury series. After reading the first, I was hungry for more. The first one left a chance for this one because Rikar already fed from Angela through the Meridian.I really admire Angela because she's kickass, I'm a sucker for those kinds of heroines. The independent, no-nonsense types who know how to defend themselves with bare hands or weapons like knives and guns. That's what exactly what she did, though she suffered harshly under the hands of Lothair, Ivar's next-in-command. I hate those Razorbacks, which just goes to show how good the author built up the "hate the enemy" phase. One couldn't help but compare this to Ms J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood (BDB) series. There may be similarities with the writing style, some concepts, but the war here is dragons VS dragons. Nightfuries against the Razorbacks (rogues) and they're fighting for their own causes. Doggen from BDB is Numbai here, the serving class. I also like that they're scattered all over the world, Forge from the Scottish pack is a breath of fresh air. I like that the author stuck to the spelling of how the Scots speak. On to Rikar and Angela, one couldn't help but like them both 'cause they're really meant for each other. I applaud the author for making a lot of things happen in this second book, it opened up a lot of possibilities. Theirs is a brutal romance in a sense. Rikar's gift of weapons to Angela, and holding down the enemy for her to finish is quite significant. He didn't treat her as fragile, but believed in her strength, and gave her what she wanted without remorse. The fight scenes were good too, the Nightfuries aren't really invincible 'cause they sustained injuries. They're half-human after all.I'm currently reading Mac and Tania's story as I write this review and let me just say that the Rikar and Angela's story wasn't rushed, the time frame doesn't matter for bonded males. The author made it so they were matched well, Angela likes the cold and her favorite season is winter. On another note, I was glad for the reunion of the partners, they're pseudo-siblings (Mac and Angela).
