Maddie O'Hare was born of a whore, raised in a whorehouse and became a whore while still a child. Whoring is all she knew - nothing else. However, she was rescued and brought to Hell's Eight where she's been living for sometime. Most think she is a bit crazy, and maybe she is. But that was Maddie's way of dealing with the unpleasantness of servicing clients and sometimes still serves a purpose - she mentally escapes to her imaginary place. All Maddie ever wanted was for someone to love her. Really, truly love and want her. CADEN'S VOW is more about the blossoming and growth of Maddie than it is about Caden. She becomes her own women. It is a hard journey for her because she doesn't know what she want or how to get there. Caden doesn't help matters with his "I've got to prove myself," yet I never figured out exactly what that was.The story gets much better towards the last third of the book. And Ace - much more about him in CADEN'S VOW. Well, I liked it, but... there's something that's bothering me... I cannot put my finger on it exactly, but it's still there.I din't liked Caden too much... just a little towards the end. He was too sanctimonious, too convinced about his way of thinking... He's always running away: it is implied that he made some vow to his father, but this vow was never fully explained. Just left there to dangle there all the time...I really don't know why Maddie fell for him... She was very damaged/strange acting and thinking at the beginning, but after she made some very smart decisions. To mee it seemed too much improvement in such a short time.Let's see what happens next! Should be Ace, right?

Wow! Great love story, a little crude on the sex talk, but Maddie was born and raised in a brothel.

This, #6 in the Hell's Eight series, is a good addition to the series.
