I received a digital ARC of this book from Netgalley. There isn't too much to say about this. The title says it all, really. We should all be feminists. Adichie does make a great point that more people should be making, that we make our culture, our culture doesn't make us. When we realize that aspects of our culture our hurting people, we need to change them. Nothing is so sacred that it should stand in the face of injury to actual humans. This a minorly adapted text of the speech Adichie gave for TED, which is as far as I know the only TED talk to be sampled in pop music (Beyonce's Flawless). It's as good on the page as it is as a talk and contains so many viciously quotable bits that are on point for the female and male experiences of gender that I'm in awe. "We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller. We say to girls: You can have ambition, but not too much. You should aim to be successful but not too successful, otherwise you will threaten the man. If you are the breadwinner in your relationship with a man, pretend that you are not, especially in public, otherwise you will emasculate him."
Do You like book Vi Burde Alle Være Feminister (2014)?
Glad that I was not brought up in Nigeria ! Think this should be given to all youngsters.
