This was my first book by this author and in this series, I am not sure what the first 5 were about or if it would of made a difference, I didn't feel like I missed anything so I am going with no it would not have. This book is about making candy. How could you not like it. We have the Lucy who is just back from a trip about Europe with her aunt and uncle (the only real reason they are in this book as you don't hear much from them after). She comes to her farther being very ill and unable to run their candy company. Then we have Charles Clarke who is sent to live with his father (who left his and the family many many years ago) who starts helping his father run another candy company (that at one time belonged to Lucy's dad). This book is historical but done well. We have romance, mystery, friendships, candy making, social events, all things that make up a good book. I love the writing. Siri Mitchell makes books flow so well. I did find that I didn't really identify with the character or the candy storyline. I kept wondering why Lucy would be so obsessed with making the perfect candy over the fact that she got to travel through Europe? Towards the middle I kind of fell of reading it and ended up skimming. I still liked the writing but wasn't invested in this one like I have been in other Siri Mitchell books.
Do You like book Unrivaled (2013)?
