This is the story of a normal boy and his dad......a T-Rex. T-Rex dad is very busy and always seems to be working. The boy want his dad to come to field day. At first he feels the day is ruined when a gang of misfits interrupts their game and in come t-rex dad to save the day. T-Rex dad umps the game and save everyone from the rain. This is a heartwarming picture book that shows the heart of a Dad trying to balance work and family. The book would be appropriate for pre-school to first grade. Tremendous book, sort of a companion to Rosenberg's earlier book Monster Mama, another family favorite. That one was perfect for mother's day, this one is perfect for father's day. Newcomer Matt Myers is awesome, this is a great pairing of hilarious story and pictures, full of color, energy, lots of fun. T Dad is a tough, scary, carniverous, hard-working dad. Tobias is your average human kid who just wants dad's time and attention. Add a big baseball game, a thunderstorm, a few would-be bullies and a happy ending. My kid wanted to hear this one over again right away. I can see it will be a new nighttime favorite, alongside Where the Wild Things Are and Ten More Minutes-- great manic energy. Feels like it should be a tv show, further adventures of TDad and Tobias.
