Rose is 24, works at the DMV and lives with her mother. According to her mother Rose cannot do anything right and because Rose has visions, is possessed by a demon. After finally standing up to her mother and spending the day doing nothing for her, Rose returns home to find her mother murdered and she is the prime suspect. With the help of her neighbour, Joe, Rose tries to prove her innocence.A lovely book to read with romance, crime and humour all rolled into one. Definitely not one of my favorite books, but it was pretty good. Her writing was very fluid and I found the dialogue to very realistic. The storyline was my problem. In just wasn't a fan. It was all very predictable, and in the end there were a lot of unanswered questions. She did a great job with character development for Joe and Rose, but the rest of the characters were lacking. I still don't know if Sloan was a criminal or cop, I assume him to be a criminal? Why did they go to rose's house to begin with? Joe said that Crocker knew it was her because of the way she was spending the money, but that didn't begin until after they had killed her momma. Overall I wouldn't read this again, but I wouldn't say I didn't like it. My to-read list is quite long at the moment, but eventually I could see myself reading the sequels.
