This is a clever novel and you slowly fall in love with the hero right along with Helen.She is a Mom with natural fears, losing her children to their unloving Father, a Duke!Helen keeps her secrets but falls in love with the hero and gently accepts his scars, both inside and out.It takes him time but Alistair eventually sees that he has no future without Helen.A charming and heart touching novel. Best book of this remarkable wonderful series. I loved it and have reread it several times.
