About book The Willful Princess And The Piebald Prince (2013)
This was a bit different from the other Realm of the Elderlings books. It is a first-person account from the mother of a minstrel who was close to the Piebald Prince, and tells the story of the Prince's conception, birth, life, and death. It is interesting to the person who is wondering whether or not the Farseer line is really as "pure" as they claim. It gives a little backstory to something referenced in the other books. However, it really is a depressing story full of tragedy, sin, and betrayal so not one of my favorites. A beautiful, intriguing and...utterly depressing story. No, seriously, I highly recommend this! It's a short and beautifully illustrated book that I will probably re-read in the future. It explains the deep mistrust against the Wit we see in the Farseer Trilogy and also more about the ability itself. But I must say we're lucky this book is so short because, we'll, man it's depressing. And beautiful. And I loved it.Anyway, you should read this as a sequel before the Farseer Trilogy or (if you prefer mystery) after just because it's so good. Now I'm going to get some damn chocolate.

Nauwelijks meer als 100 bladzijden, je kunt het nauwelijks een boek noemen.

Absolutely excellent. And now I want to re-read the Farseer trilogy...

A grim but rather engrossing fantasy tale in the realist vein
