About book The Understorey (2000)

2 1/2 stars. I've always loved Fisher Amelie's books and bought this one after reading The Wonderboom in The Glassheart Chronicles. I braced myself for what's to be some sort of paranormal romance type of story, but the reason for 'electric spark' between Elliot & Jules never seem to eventuate. It also got a bit frustrating reading about their obsession with each other and the underlying need to be together...something I thought could have been cut short. I did love the suspense that was part of this story. Thought that was what made it. But would love to have learned a bit more about their electric current. I'm sure it'll be explained in the next book. But I'm impatient. And I hope the next one explains why Jesse was the way he was too. I guess it was okay. The story was kinda slow and it seemed to me that majority of the book's scenes were all about Julia and Elliott being crazy in love with each other and it sort of wore me out. I hate to say it but their relationship screams insta-love to me. Sometimes, I wonder if they would still feel the same thing for each other if they did not have this "electric current" thing that they share whenever they touch each other. Overall, the story was interesting and refreshing. I did like it but not quite loved it.
