About book The Time Keeper (2012)

This is a very relaxed version of a thought-provoking short story, I think. It's not really a full story.. because it comes full circle but it only makes sense in the context, so I'm not sure how I feel about it. The multiple story lines is a tad confusing at first but you get used to it really quickly.. I read this in one sitting so to anyone who's planning on giving it a read or taking it on a week holiday or anything, bring a back up because it doesn't take long. It's written really beautifully though. I enjoyed it and it was a quick read. The ultimate message was great in terms of recognizing the importance of time in our lives and the amount of control we let keeping time have over us. It seems like there could have been better ways to get to the message, but overall I still enjoyed it. A few quotes I enjoyed. Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can't. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out. My favorite part is in the last few paragraphs of the book. "Stay with me." "Forever.' "Look," she whispered. The sky before them was painted by a stunning sunset, orange and violet and cranberry red. Dor lay down beside her. Their labored breathing overlapped. Once, Dor would have counted those breathes. Now he merely listened, absorbing the sound. He looked at everything. He took it all in.

Do You like book The Time Keeper (2012)?

As always, I have become engrossed by another Mitch Albom novel. This plot was so rich with saga and realism that I almost forgot this was fiction. I loved this very simplistic yet beautiful writing style.I also appreciated how it was loosely based on a biblical narrative, something which I haven't been exposed to much in other fiction. This is definitely a poetic novel that can touch many people.I related well with most of the characters, even when they made decisions and acted on feelings in a way I didn't agree with or like; I could see their reason behind their actions however flawed. Alboms skill at constructing his characters in this novel is why it deserves 5 stars. I didn't just see these protagonists as characters, I saw them as people with lives.

This book killed me. Mitch albom somehow managed to creep into my heart and I only noticed right at the end of the book how much I cared for each of the characters. I started the book at about 6:40 today, and couldn't put it down until I had finished it. Even now I am stuck thinking about each character and their choices. I have fallen in love with Mitch Albom's writing, because with each book of his, I look at life differently. With this book I could feel connections into my own life, and within the two hours I spent reading it, I seem to have discovered a whole new view on it. I DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone who feels even the slightest bit out of place...
