I'm (I think) 73% done with Loving Jay but I kept starting the Shearing Gun and finally gave in and read the entire thing.I actually put off reading this. I kept reading the synopsis and it just didn't sound like my kind of read. They were both in the closet in this small town, there was a lot of sheep shearing, and the snippets I read of Hank made him seem cocky and a little unlikeable... But I loved him so much!!! And I loved Elliot, and their town, and I loved reading about shearing! I swear I have learned more things about the world in gay romance than in textbooks.I loved the slow burn, (which I think is pretty apparent from my other reviews) I loved their relationship and how it progressed over time, seeing how they began to rely on each other and change because of the other, and also become more understanding of the other... made my heart melt. And seeing how Hank became so unsure of himself, seeing those insecurities and then having him admit them, I just felt for him, and Elliot was the perfect partner. He supported him and they just made it work. I sighed when I got to the end because it couldn't have been more perfect. I'm in love with these two. And now I need to finish Loving Jay. (Which I'm also looooving.) Hank was okey but Elliot paled in comparison to everyone else. Kind of easy going story but at times boring. It's all about the daily farm life so don't expect DRAMA though there is some things. A few funny stuff but the really standout things here are how various people in Hank's life react to his sexuality. This author has a talent for side characters, in a way they were more interesting to me than the romance.
Do You like book The Shearing Gun (2014)?
soooo soooo predictable! and the characters are too flat to make it worth the time!
