I've read all the Kings books and this one by far is the worst. My biggest beef is the sloppy and careless writing - grammar, punctuation, missing and extraneous and incorrect words, and overall lack of a basic proofreading and editing. This is not up to HK-W's standards at all.That said, the characters are not riveting (I didn't much care for or about either Selene or Avery) and not much gets going until more than 30% of the book has passed. About the only important thing that occurs is with the werewolves (a war is escalating), and I'm so sick of them!There's also a preachiness and political correctness that is taking over this series and IMHO ruining it. Humanity is a scourge and all the supernatural species are just so wonderful. Not all paranormal series are like this. I find it tiresome in the extreme.Just a big disappointment all around, and unlike a few of the earlier books in the series, not something I'd ever re-read or even keep on my Kindle. I've noticed with other series that go beyond 3 book that they often start petering out and losing their focus as (I assume) the author loses interest and inspiration. Not until the 39% mark do the H and h even meet. Having read The Kings and BBW books , I know there are always a few plots, I guess I just forgot. The smex scene between Avery and Selene was beautifullydone.Page after page of torturous wanting and waiting between those two until just the right moment. The Seelie King is pretty dark considering Avery's the "light" fae. The big deaths caught me by surprise. I had hoped HKW would give us the Seelie and Unseelie stories together since they are so closely related. Hope we don't have to wait too long for Caliban and Minerva!
