Aku jarang membaca cerita berbingkai dan buku ini adalah salah satunya.Setelah 5 tahun berlalu dari kehebohan skandal perceraian dan skandal Derek dan Kelsey, Jason yg selama waktu itu telah sering meyakinkan Molly untuk menerima lamaran Jason. Namun Molly tetap kukuh pada pendiriannya dan menolak lamaran itu karena statusnya yg memalukan dan Molly meyakinkan Jason kalau dirinya tetap bahagia dengan keadaannya yg hanya sebagai wanita simpanan yg dicintai Jason.Kali ini liburan natal dirumah keluarga besar Malory di Haverston dibuat gempat dan heboh. Seluruh keluarga mempertanyakan keberadaan makam tak bernama di tanah keluarga Malory dan sebuah kado yg tak bernama dan tak ditujukan pada siapapun diantara anggota keluarga di ruang keluarga. Seluruh keluarga penasaran. Amy dan Warren suaminya berniat membuka kado tersebut karena yakin kalau kado tersebut adalah jawaban dari misteri dan rumor tentang asalusul nenek moyang keluarga Malory yg seorang keturunan gipsi. Tak hanya kedua orang ini, satu demi satu anggota keluarga bermunculan diruang keluarga mulai dari Jeremy, Regina dan suamunya, Derek, Thomas dan Marshal, dan tak ketinggalan 2 paman termuda James dan Tony. Mereka membuka kado dan menemukan isinya adalah sebuah Jurnal kisah cinta kakek dan nenek buyut mereka, Christopher dan Anastasia.Anastasia adalah putri yg memiliki garis keturunan bangsawan dari ayahnya. Namun karena dirinya adalah seorang anak perempuan dan ibunya telah meninggal maka Anastasia dipelihara oleh nenek Maria, ibu dari ibu Anastasia. Takdir pertemuan Anastasia dan Christopher yg ditunggu Maria dimulai saat rombongan gipsi beristirahat dan berkemah ditanah milik Christopher di Haverston. Anastasia dan Christopher saling tertarik. Ana dengan keyakinannya untuk dinikahi, sedangkan Chris yg bangsawan hanya ingin menjadikan Ana sebagai wanita simpanan. Namun saat mabuk dan tak sadar Chris menikahi Ana. Karena ketidaktahuan Chris terjadi pertengkaran yg menyebabkan perpisahan keduanya. Ana kembal pada nenek Maria hanya untuk mendampingi saat saat terakhir kehidupan sang nenek yg mengkhawatirkan Ana dan meminta untuk dikuburkan ditanah Christopher. Untunglah ada Sir William yg meyakinkan Maria sebelum wafat, bahwa Ana berada dalam lindungan William dan akan membantu menyatukan kembali Ana dan Chris dengan bantuan kedudukannya sebagai seorang bangsawan (William ikut rombongan gipsi karena tertarik pada Maria) dan bantuan teman temannya. Dengan menciptakan rumor dan skandal yg menguntungkan bagi hubungan Ana dan Chris sehingga akhirya kedua orang ini dapat dipersatuakan dalam masyarakat bangsawan. Chris akhirnya mengakui bahwa dirinya tak berniat untuk membatalkan pernikahan mereka karena Chris menyadari kebutuhannya akan keberadaan Ana yg mencerahkan kehidupannya yg membosankan disaat kebersamaan mereka yg singkat. Dan akhirnya Ana dan Chris menetap di Haverston, menjalani kehidupan bahagia mereka didekat makam nenek Maria.Setelah membaca jurnal tersebut, seluruh anggota keluarga Malory akhirnya sadar akan berkat dan intuisi yg selama ini menyertai mereka berasal dari nenek gipsi. Dan jurnal ini pula yg akhirnya membantu hubungan Jason dan Molly (jurnal ini dibuat nenek Ana dan Kakek Chris untuk membantu anak cucu yg membutuhkan bantuan mereka). Molly yg mengakui bahwa dirinyalah yg menyampaikan kado tersebut atas permintaan nenek Molly (yg merupakan pelayan nenek Ana) yg mendapat mandat dari nenek Ana. Molly pun diminta Jason untuk membaca jurnal tersebut.Pagi hari natal adalah keajaiban dan hadiah bagi Jason karena Molly akhirnya menerima lamaran yg diajukan Jason dihadapan sluruhanggota keluarga Malory.
Jason & Molly.... Jason is one of the 'elder' brothers... who has been in love with the household maid for 30+ years... having had a son (who is now grown) with her many years ago... Jason always wanted to marry her, but she steadfastly refused - but always remained his lover.Jason marries a duchess (without marital consumation) when his parents & sister pass, leaving young sons & a neice to parent... even after their divorce (at her insistence), Molly would not marry.And the whole clan is gathering for Christmas... and a present mysteriously shows up in the great room... placed there by Molly - who had been given the gift when she was 4 by her grandmother, maid to Alexandra, and told that she was to present it to the family in the beginning of the new century... and that Alexandra had told her grandmother that someday in the future their families would be united by marriage.Unable to resist opening it early, the clan does so, and find a journal written by their great grandparents... and they take 3 days to read the story.Christopher & Alexandra... Christopher, bored, rich, indifferent; gifted the estate by the king, whom he had accidently saved from his runaway horse... Alexandra, a gypsy,(whose father was a Russian prince, turns 18... her grandmother can tell the future, and is respected (feared ?) by the other gypsies. The lead gypsy had paid her bride price for her when she was 7 - before she could have any input - for his son... but her grandmother kept putting them off, because not all the signs were good yet... and the lead gypsy's son is cruel... When she (grandma) knows she is dying, she tells Alexandra she must find a nongypsy to marry her... to get her out of the bride contract. Alexandra, discouraged, meets Christopher... and there is instant attraction (love?)... she will not have sex with him unless he marries her, and he won't marry her - she's not of his class...and the 2nd night, after drinking, he goes to the camp intending to offer to make her his mistress... where she is dancing... and he wakes up with her the next day in his bed... they make love... he is happy... but... he believes she agreed to be his mistress. When she finds out he doesn't remember marrying her & that he doesn't want to be married to her, she returns to her grandmother... Grandmother dies, but tells her she 'sees' that he is the one for her, and have faith... grandmother's friend (a lord) concocts a plan with her to present her to society, using the ton's penchant for gossip to introduce her as a Russian princess...Christopher realizes that he loves her, and needs her, and has sent others to find the gypsies... when he hears about Alexandra... not sure if she is his, he tracks her down... declares his love... and they return to his estate to make a home...This was a pleasant story, that catches us up with the Malory's as their family is growing...

"El Marques y La Gitana" es el sexto libro de la serie de la familia Mallory de Johanna Lindsey. Y tambien es el libro - hasta el momento - mas corto de la serie.Toda la familia Mallory se ha reunido para la navidad, en el castillo de Haverston, donde Jason - 3er marques de la familia - nos rebela el amor de tantos años que profesa por Molly y que en busca de su felicidad, y sin importa si la sociedad - estricta de ese tiempo - lo desapruebe.La familia se encuentra con un viejo diario que hace muchisimos años pertenecio a los abuelos de los Mallory, Christopher Mallory y Anna - Anastasia - Mallory, en el cual nos relata los pormenores de su matrimonio y como siendo Anastasia de origenes humildes pudo conquistar su tosco corazón.Como todo libro de esta alocada familia, vemos como se las arregla Anthony para huir de la ira y los puños de James, y de las mil y una bromas que ambos realizan en contra de los esposos de sus adorables sobrinas.La novela no decepciona pero me hubiese gustado que la trama durara y se profundizara aun mas.

Dimana anak mereka si Derek itu udah merit, cing!Kalau ingat Derek pasti deh pengen baca buku tentang dia, tapi sayangnya bukunya pinjaman. :((Nah, kan kalau ngebayangin cerita tentang orang yang udah tua, pasti berasa gimanaaaa, gitu.. :PTapi eh tapi.. Ini buku banyakan bercerita tentang leluhur mereka, Christoper dan Annabela Malory. Si gipsy dan si bangsawan Inggris. Saya rasa tantangan terberat di novel ini adalah menghadirkan kembali hampir semua tokoh dari semua novel Malory. Pertengkaran antara Antony dan James, Derek dan Kinsley, Amy dan Warrent, Regina dan Nicholas, Edward dan istri serta beberapa anak laki-lakinya, tentunya istri James dan Antony juga ada. Anak mereka Jake dan Judith juga ikut meramaikan.

Parts were ok, but I don't recommend this unless the reader is a diehard Malory family fan.The Malory family is gathered together at Christmas in 1825. They read from a diary/journal which describes how their ancestor Christopher Malory met and married the gypsy woman Anastasia 100 years earlier. Anastasia needed to get married in a hurry to avoid a prearranged marriage to an abusive gypsy man. Her story is interesting but short. A second plot in the book is 1825 Georgina being pregnant and not wanting to tell her husband. This plot was poorly done.As I read this book, I wondered if Johanna Lindsey truly wrote this or someone else wrote it using her name. The grammar was terrible. I don't recall this type of talk among her characters in the other Malory books, but maybe I missed it somehow. In this book, Anthony keeps saying "aint." On page 115, Christopher Malory's friend says "He don't have it." On pages 270 and 271 Derek says "It does, don't it?" and "aint". The grammar was unsettling.Sexual content not evaluated. I read this book before I began counting sex scenes and describing the language. As I recall, it was probably mild. Setting: 1825 England and 100 years earlier. Copyright: 1998.
