About book The Paperbag Christmas (2000)

Single really is santa!Started out with a cheesy style. Dr. Chris Ringle (eye roll), 2 brothers, younger named Molar. Single gets them to help out at the cancer hospital. Single has no legs, in a wheelchair. Molar gets to know Katrina (dying). She wears a paper bag on her head because she's so ugly from the cancer. The hospital ward puts on a xmas pageant (reminded me of "The Best xmas Pageant ever"). Mean, southern lady nurse director. Cute Hindu boy Mahdu wants to be a wise man (the 4th) and makes a heartfelt stmt at the end re: empty box/no gift but wants to follow his later common "to love" better.I ended up crying. It was good. A "Hollywood" ending even though Katrina dies on xmas morning. She got her gift: a friend. Mad gets his too: her liver. Little hokey. Then years later it's time for Molar's kids to become Dr. Ringle's elves. I'm not a very religious person. However I do injoy a good spirited holiday story around the season. During the month of a holiday my local library will pull out all that holidays books and put them on a display shelf. I already read one book I sorted threw and read. Today I sat there skimmed over all the books and randomly picked this one up without reading the description. after I got home read it and some ratings. I read the whole book the day I burrowed it. Myself having a son with a terminal illness who has sat in the hospital around the holidays makes me sorta relate. It was a nice short novel about how people received the greatest gift of all that couldn't be bought. when you or a loved one sits in the hospital a lil friendship goes a long way. It was predictable yes. I still injoyed it.
