Wow. This story was amazing. Edgar Allan Poe, the father of the modern detective story, does not disappoint. I read this in class, and am glad I did. I might not have otherwise been introduced to such a wonderful story. It was much like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, which makes sense as Doyle got his inspiration from Poe. It had an engaging plot, and left you hanging to the last paragraph. My one complaint is the introduction, which did not relate to the plot and was lengthy. However, in the time it was written AND now, this introduction is an amazing piece of writing, and a kind that could never be written again. A fascinating plot, I recommend it to ANYONE. In fact, everyone should have to read this, and experience the works of the amazing Edgar Allan Poe.
Do You like book The Murders In The Rue Morgue (1901)?

Not bad for the first deductive-style mystery ever written.

Story itself was average, but the writing was sublime.
