In The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall I felt the plot was somewhat similar to the plot of Deep, Dark, and Dangerous, being the main characters trying to solve a mystery to lay a malicious spirit to rest. My favorite character was Florence's great uncle because he seemed to keep the peace in the old manor house even when the great aunt is intent on sending her off. I personally wouldn't call it "spine tingling" as a synopsis of the book described it. I would recommend it to those who aren't really into scary stuff but enjoy a ghost story. This book was a great tale that made me want to read more about the ghost haunting their house. After living in an orphanage with many other girls since she was five, Florence was moved into her uncle's home where somethings didn't seem right. Her Aunt Eugenie isn't the kindest person Florence has met, her aunt despises her since she came into the house and Florence could never please her. Florence learns of her sickly cousin James who she is not allowed to see but she is convince by Sophia. Sophia is James's sister who passed away and she comes back to revenge her death and hurt her brother. Florence becomes part of the plan and doesn't know a way out. I recommend this book to all grades because it was a great book.
First book I read by Mary Downing Hahn. Amazing book that everyone has to read!

Pretty good book! Not necessarily scary; but creepy. I do recommend to others!
