Wow! This series has been the most intense and, at times, most difficult thing I have read. A year ago, I wouldn't have touched it. It has definitely pushed a few of my boundaries. So, so glad I took the plunge.It's been heartbreaking and brutal. My heart was with Mat, Dougie, Nate, Roger and even Nikolai, at times. I feared it would never happen, but, to leave them all in a good place made it all worth it.I loved it, but, read the warnings. This is not for everyone. Just for Mat - 5 stars! He so deserve them!Truth be told, I skipped pages and books of the series. My heart can take that much pain, I just could't didn't want to read more, maybe someday I will. Anyway, I read Mat and Nate's story though. Beautiful. I ADORE Mat, everything about him ,and I adore Nate too. As for Dougie, I know I said I wanted to kill him and I did,but I feel for him, he is just a kid ,a victim of all those horrible things. I loved Coach Darryl and Mike as well. I would really like a novella about Mat and Nate and life in Hawaii!
