This was a fine read, but not something to put at the top of your list.To be fair, I did finish the entire book...and it had a few interesting characters, but once the plot twist is revealed, you just know what's coming.I think there was an interesting, potentially fascinating story here, but the author fell into too many tried and true storylines (wealthy society women who are backstabbing, sniping, and obsessed with status symbols) and the variety of views could have been interesting but was not executed well.It was a fine lazy Sunday read, but nothing more. As soon as the main character Sylvie Haydn described her traveling husband as not being around enough, I guessed that he had a second family. I felt kind of sick just reading about how the two families (Haydn and Hathaway) got along after the husband did that to them. The wives seemed to get stronger, and the daughters seemed to get weaker. Not a real uplifting book. Real problems, but so much disaster in one family? It always has to do with money. Almost too much to take.
